A TOTAL of £665 was collected by Llandudno lifeboat volunteers following a sell out concert by the Fishermen’s Friends at Venue Cymru.
The group was warmly welcomed to the Llandudno Boathouse last Friday to spend time meeting the volunteers and being given a technical tour of the Shannon class all weather lifeboat William F Yates and being shown around the boathouse.
A crew member said: “It was great to have the chance to meet them all here at our boat house particularly as they all have such a strong association with the RNLI.
"It was also great to talk about our shared experiences and show them a little of what we do here at Llandudno, and of curse to show them the William F Yates”.
The Fishermen’s Friends is a shanty group based in North Cornwall.
Their performances combine traditional songs of the sea with more contemporary folk music and a large dash of humour.
The current members are: brothers John and Jeremy Brown, John Lethbridge, Billy Hawkins, Jason Nicholas, Toby Lobb, John McDonnell, Pete Hicks and Jon Cleave. The Fishermen’s Friends has supported the RNLI in a number of ways over the years.
They released their Home from the Sea album in 2004 to raise money for the RNLI.
