ZARA Hayat from Westholme School has been selected as Blackburn with Darwen’s new Youth MP.
More than 8,000 young people took part in this year’s election to select a new MP to represent the voices of young people across the borough.
Her deputies will be Khalid Omar who attends St Mary’s College and Muhammed Bapu from Witton Park School.
The Youth MP also attends the council’s executive board meetings.
Also present at the ceremony were chief executive Denise Park, director of children’s services Jayne Ivory, executive board member for children’s services Cllr Maureen Bateson, her deputy Cllr Julie Gunn, council leader Cllr Mohammed Khan and head of adolescent services Imran Akuji.
