Two women have been taken to hospital after falling down the escalator in The Mall in Blackburn.
Two ambulances and a rapid response vehicle were called to Church Street after a woman in her 80s fell from the escalator into the market at 2.45pm, the ambulance service said.
Another woman, in her 40s, has suffered minor injuries during the fall.
A blue curtain was put up around the incident in the market.
An ambulance service spokesman said one patient was taken to Royal Preston Hospital and the other was taken to Royal Blackburn.
