A FREE app offering unique one-time offers at independent businesses across Northwich is looking to help revitalise the high street.

Already working with businesses including Bella Boutique, The Codfather and Bombay Quay, the SuperSavers Cheshire app offers consumers incentives to try somewhere new.

In exchange for a subscription fee, businesses feature on an app with more than 13,000 downloads – alongside hundreds of businesses across the county – as well as online marketing including social media and blog features.

Founder Jason Armstrong, from Rudheath, said: “I started the idea a couple of years ago to encourage people to shop local.

Northwich Guardian:

Jason has been known to try out the offers himself

“For me, I was looking down the high street and seeing that there was not much there for me to come into the town centre for.

“Younger people will maybe walk through town looking at their phones rather than the shops around them, so I decided to design something that would put businesses on people’s phones.

“For example, the app will ping if you are walking past a business which is on the app and has an offer available.

“There are a lot of positives to it. It’s about variety and I aim to have at least one of each type of business per town.”

Working across Knutsford, Nantwich, Sandbach and beyond, the app’s roots lie in helping independent businesses stand out among big brands – encouraging shoppers to try something new.

Examples of offers include discounts, added extras and limited-time bonuses.

“It’s not an app to degrade the business, ‘Groupon-style’,” said Jason, 33.

Northwich Guardian:

“It’s a one-time strong offer for people who have never seen the business before and want to experience what it has to offer.

“That’s what works, because you can’t get the offer anywhere else. A lot of businesses will change their offer every month or so, which keeps it fresh.

“Only about 50 per cent of people use vouchers, so I understand that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

“But the businesses are getting new customers – on average around five to 12 per month – including some from other towns. That person will then come back once they have tried what’s on offer.”
