VACANT land could house new industrial units.

Developers say confidence in Blackburn’s economy and the success of similar developments means they are bringing forward proposals for six new units on land at the corner of Challenge Way and Blakewater Road in the town.

A spokesman said: “The site is situated in an area of established commercial/employment land uses which is mainly industrial-based and earmarked for employment land use.

“There are also copious public transport links to Blackburn and surrounding towns and cities, with arterial roads leading to the M65 motorway network.

“This site is currently vacant and has remained so for a number of years.

“The applicant wishes to erect six terraced industrial-type portal frame buildings similar to other developments which have sprung up recently in this area due to the economic upturn.

"We believe that this proposed development will enhance the area and bring in much valuable employment land uses."
