ANOTHER partner is now being sought to continue the regeneration of an East Lancashire market.

The takeover of stalls at Rawtenstall by The Clog Market has been declared a success by Rossendale Council bosses previously.

But it has been confirmed that the 12-month promotional arrangement with Jane Boys and the venture will end in May.

Town hall chiefs say they are now on the lookout for a fresh company to take over the indoor and outdoor markets, off Newchurch Road.

Cllr Alyson Barnes, council leader, said: “Over the last year, the market has gone from strength to strength.

“When we went into partnership with Jane, the intention was to transform the market and make it a destination place to shop and socialise in the area.

“Jane has certainly been successful in delivering that.

“She had a great vision and set a clear direction.”

Jane added: “It has been an interesting pilot project, one which already has shown positive outcomes for Rawtenstall market including being awarded The Rossendale Business – Valley at Work Award.

“The market has had huge support from the community who value the market, they have shown us tremendous support and encouragement.”

Plans for a new tender are set to be published shortly, according to the council.
