Police have issued a warning after a video was circulated on social media showing CCTV footage of the hit-and-run that killed Umran Hussain Sodagar.

The distressing footage shows the fatal collision that happened on Manchester Road in Accrington on Sunday.

Officers are now urging people to refrain from sharing the footage further and want to make it clear that doing so could constitute a criminal offence.

A spokesperson for the police said: "We are aware of a video circulating on social media showing CCTV footage of a fatal collision in Manchester Road, Accrington on Sunday, February 2.

"We would urge people to refrain from sharing the footage further.

"This has been a devastating few days for the family of the man who has lost his life and we will continue to offer our support to his loved ones at this sad and difficult time.

"As part of our investigation we have become aware of a video showing the collision.

"This was shared on Snapchat and contained very distressing images of those involved.

"We know this video has been widely shared but want to make it clear sharing this video could constitute a criminal offence.

"Please think about the impact it will have on the families of those involved in the crash and indeed anyone else who may find themselves watching it.

"We would also ask people not to speculate on the nature of the collision.

"Two people have been arrested in connection with the incident and an investigation is on-going at this time.

"Our thoughts remain with those involved.

"Thank you for your continued support."
