A number of people have been stopped and searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act, and a car seized following concerns raised by worried residents.

On Saturday evening, officers from the Task Force had been out on patrol in the Ribble Valley targeting priority areas in Clitheroe and Whalley, after residents highlighted them as problem areas.

A spokesperson for the police said: "Numerous persons have this evening been stopped and searched under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

"And this vehicle was seen driving in a careless and anti-social manner, and after evading the police once, it was soon located hiding in a residential area of Whalley.

"This vehicle has now been seized by police.

"Officers from the Task Force will continue to disrupt criminal activity and listen to the concerns raised by the public in order to make the community a safer place."
