A HELPING hand from a business support scheme will see an IT services company expand into Blackburn.

Preston-based Genesis IT has pinpointed East Lancashire after being given assistance by Boost, the county's growth hub initiative.

Three to four staff will need to be recruited before the outfit lands in Blackburn, according to directors Stuart Lee and John Cahill.

The pair undertook a management buyout with founder Marie Rushworth, who set up Genesis with husband Mike. His death in a motorcycle accident prompted the realignment.

Mr Lee said: "We're techies at heart so when we bought the company, the idea of running and growing a business was quite daunting.

"Through the Growth Support Programme, we have learned about sales, marketing and finance.

"We always knew where we wanted to take the business but now we know how to get there."

The firm provides IT services for both SMEs and larger businesses countywide and found out about Boost through a BNI event at Burnley FC's Turf Moor.
