A MAN was stopped and breathalysed as he drove home after a row with his girlfriend.

Blackburn magistrates heard Jamie Lee Preston had not intended to get behind the wheel until the fall-out with his partner.

Preston, 30, of Thirlmere Close, Huncoat, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and without insurance. He was banned from driving for 16 months, fined £303 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge.

Graeme Parkinson, defending, said had not planned to drive but after the row with his girlfriend decided it would be best if he left and went to his own address.

"His driving may have been affected by the fact he was emotionally upset because it was the end of the relationship," said Mr Parkinson.
