DETECTIVES today made further arrests in connection with the investigation into the death of Alison McBlain in Blackburn.
Those arrested are a 27-year-old woman and a 62-year-old man on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and a 25-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender and arson.
They were arrested at addresses in Clayton-le-Moors and Preston and remain in custody.
Ms McBlain, 36, died on November 21 last year in hospital following a serious collision with a car around 7.45pm on November 19 in Whalley Banks at the junction with Pearson Street in Blackburn.
Detectives believe a car, a Fiat Punto, mounted the pavement before colliding with Ms McBlain and a second pedestrian, 26-year-old Christian Rivers, from Blackburn.
He sustained serious injuries.
Four people have already been charged in connection with Ms McBlain’s death.
Dean Tarim Qayum and a 16-year-old boy, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, have appeared at Preston Crown Court, while their co-accused Kaylib Connolly and Jon Paul Chatwood appeared over a video link from Preston Prison.
Qayum, 20, of Patterdale Avenue, Blackburn, Connolly, 18, of Ivy Street, Blackburn, Chatwood, 25, of Walsh Street, Blackburn, also deny attempting to murder Christian Rivers.
