A CHURCH is once again organising a winter-watch bake to help feed Bolton's homeless.

Members of St Anne's with St James' Church in Turton have called on generous members of the public to cook a hot meal for some of the town's most vulnerable.

The church opens its doors every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from January to March to provide shelter, hot food, company, haircuts, advice and more. Between 70 and 90 people attend each Winterwatch evening.

Parishioners have been urged to support the cause by cooking a main meal such as lasagne, shepherd's pie, chilli, casserole, hotpot, or a pudding, such as fruit a fruit crumble or pie.

Organisers have requested that meals are frozen where possible to make transporting them easier, and that they are labelled.

Meals can be dropped off outside St Anne's Church between 12noon and 12.30pm on Friday, February 7.

Alternatively, deliveries and collections can be organised by calling Debbie Knight on 01204 852 593 or 07776 077 058.

Organisers posted on Facebook: "It’s that time of the year, where the weather can be really cold and miserable when we ask you to help those in need of a warm nourishing meal.

"I can personally attest that the arrival of the homemade Winterwatch Bake from this parish is much anticipated and much appreciated. We hope you’ll be able to support us again this year."
