A stash of 63 cannabis plants were found in a house after thermal imaging cameras used by the police detected a strange source of heat.

Earlier this month, the North West Police helicopter was carrying out a routine flyover over Burnley.

Using the force's thermal imaging camera, officers identified a rather good heat source coming from a property on Gannow Lane.

On Wednesday, a search warrant was obtained and police found 63 cannabis plants stashed in the property.

A spokesperson for the police said: "Yesterday, officers from the Burnley Neighbourhood Policing Team obtained a search warrant at Blackburn Magistrates Court under the Misuse of Drugs Act.

"The warrant was executed on Wednesday afternoon and 63 cannabis plants were recovered.

"The electric meter had also been bypassed."
