A JUDGE is set to rule on the extent of a theft involving a Darwen woman.

Julie Lorraine Winter, 59, has pleaded guilty to stealing from John Gould between dates in June 2018 and April 2019.

Winter, of Hindle Street, has now been bailed by the Recorder of Preston, Judge Mark Brown, until February 21 for pre-sentence reports.

Hanifa Patel, prosecuting, said the Crown's case was that the amount of money stolen amounted to £18,400.

But she told the court that bank statements were still being awaited so the final total could be clarified.

Mark Stuart, defending, said the prosecution was also apparently awaiting a statement from the defendant's sister, to further resolve the issue.

"I'm not sure if she is the person to give that (information)", he added

Mr Stuart told the court it was the case for Winter, who has no previous convictions, that the amount taken was just over £3,300. He also said it was unfortunate the issues had not yet been resolved, given the lengthy history of the matter.
