YOUTHS were searched and alcohol seized by police following reports of antisocial behaviour in a town centre and nearby village.
Durham Police said officers were deployed to the scene of reported trouble in Peterlee town centre and Shotton Colliery on Saturday night, some of whom were mounted on the Peterlee beat team's new e-bikes.
Using electrically-powered bikes, officers were able to identify and stop various youths they believed were responsible for acts of anti-social behaviour in the vicinity.
A spokesperson for Peterlee police said: "These youths were searched, details taken and a quantity of alcohol seized. Further action will be taken with those in possession of alcohol over the coming weeks.
"We will continue to use all possible measures to disrupt and prevent anti-social behaviour and those responsible will be held to account and dealt with."
