An East Lancashire businessman is to tackle a mammoth 85 mile walk for charity, in just 24 hours.

Mark Walls from Rossendale, who is director of drone-based aerial photography business, Footage from Above, will take on the Isle of Man's Parish Walk in June.

The annual event is the Isle of Man’s ultimate walking challenge, as people attempt to cover the 85 mile circumference of the island in just 24 hours.

Mr Walls is participating in the walk in aid of the East Lancashire Hospice.

He said: “As a businessman, I believe that local businesses should do what they can to help local charities.

"My wife's grandad accessed the Hospice's services and although it isn’t something we speak about a lot, my wife and her family have always praised all the staff and nurses at the hospice for all that they did when her grandad needed end-of-life care.”

In preparation for the walk, which passes all of the 17 parishes on the island, starting at the National Sports Centre in Douglas, Mr Walls walks 25 miles every weekend.

He added: “I know I’ll achieve this and complete the walk as I have a focus.

"I believe that when you put your mind to something you’re much more capable, and I’m determined to tackle the challenge to help raise vital funds for the hospice.”

The motivated businessman has set a fundraising target of £5,000, which he hopes to achieve through sponsorships.
