DETECTIVES investigating an incident in which a man was found unresponsive in the street have released an image of a wanted suspect.

Police were called to Burnley following reports a man in his 30s had been found unconscious with a serious head injury.

Despite the incident happening at 9.45am on December 20 the man is still receiving treatment in Royal Blackburn Hospital.

Witnesses described how the man had been punched, fell to the floor and hit his head in the process.

One man, aged 27, from Burnley was arrested on suspicion of wounding and is currently on bail.

However. detectives now want to speak to a second man, Aaron Scott, also 27, whose last known address was Pendlemist View in Burnley.

Scott is described as between 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall, of a thin build, with short brown hair and blue eyes. He has some distinctive scars - a 1ins scar on his forehead above his eye, and a 3ins scar on his head.

Det Sgt Sarah Hargreaves said: “This assault left a man with some significant injuries and we need to speak to Scott as a matter of some urgency. I would appeal to anyone who knows where he may be to get in touch. I would also appeal to Scott himself to get in touch if he sees this appeal so we can arrange to speak to him.”
