THIS fascinating picture show trams heading along Blackburn Road in Accrington past the town hall and market hall.
The market was in full swing with stalls filling the pavement outside the market hall.
Sadly we don’t have a date when the picture was taken but the photographer would have been in what was then Lloyd’s Bank.
On the left of the picture it is interesting to see the smaller cottage-style properties which were demolished to make way for shops.
The block further up the road towards what most people will remember being the home of the Yorkshire Bank was also later demolished and at one point the block housed the town’s Woolworth’s store.
