Three men were taken to hospital following a late night crash involving two cars.

Emergency services were called to Hibson Road in Nelson just before 11.30pm on Sunday.

Fire crews from Nelson worked with cutting equipment to remove the roof of one vehicle in order to free one of the men.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Two fire engines from Nelson attended a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on Hibson Road in Nelson.

"Firefighters used cutting equipment to rescue one casualty who was taken to hospital by ambulance."

A man in his 40s with knee injuries, and a man in his 50s, who was suffering from severe pain in his leg and pelvis were taken to Royal Preston Hospital.

A man in his 30s suffered head injuries and was also taken to Royal Preston Hospital.
