EXPERIMENTAL parking restrictions in Bacup town centre are set to be made permanent.
The trial regulations were introduced in February 2019 as £2million revamp of the area began.
The cash for the Bacup Townscape Heritage Initiative came from Heritage Lottery Fund, Rossendale Borough Council and Lancashire County Council.
The work involved the widening of footways using quality paving to create a more functional space together with highway alterations to improve traffic flows through the town centre. as well as upgrading shop frontages.
Now Lancashire County Council’s cabinet on Thursday has been asked to make the experimental restrictions permanent after monitoring of local traffic and parking following changes to the road layout.
The highways authority received one object to the scheme calling for new disabled parking bays on St James’s Square.
