A CAMPAIGN to revive two East Lancashire railway stations has benefitted from a host of contributors.

An overhaul for the halts at Ramsgreave and Wilpshire, and Brierfield, has been commissioned by Community Rail Lancashire (CRL), working with Connecting East Lancashire.

Artist Karen Allerton has been working with students from Blackburn College and Ribblesdale High at the Ribble Valley station on a series of temporary and permanent exhibits there.

And her counterparts Sam Rushton and Rob Parkinson have been developing a fresh approach to the Pendle location, in the shadow of the new Northlight complex.

Their project is also being assisted by Brierfield-based arts collective In Situ, aiming to promote travel routes to and from the station.

Workshops have already taken place focusing on printmaking, clay sculpture and creative writing.

"It is part of a larger programme developing the area around Brierfield Railway station and Northlight," said a CRL spokesman.

Caroline Eccles, of Huckleberry Films, has also been on hand to capture the essence of their efforts. The first videos from each of the schemes have now been uploaded to Youtube and can be viewed by going to the CRL's website.
