A SPORTS club in Chester is celebrating following the expansion of its fitness suite and studio.

The Cheshire County Sports Club on Plas Newton Lane, Upton, is to host an open day on Saturday, January 11, to show off its new facilities.

As a not-for-profit organisation, it has undergone a number of developments over the past 17 years including the County Lounge, synthetic pitches and the Clubhouse.

During the open day, people will be able to test the equipment, see some sample classes in action between 10am and 4pm and speak to staff about memberships.

Local personalities, charities and fitness experts will also be on hand to discuss how New Year resolutions can be turned into action.

There will also be free refreshments and entertainment for the children.

Manager of The Cheshire County Sports Club, Andrew Chandler, said: “The number one resolution this New Year is to get fit and healthy, we offer the opportunity to do this with our opening hours, state-of-the-art equipment, friendly staff and free classes with Fitness@TheCheshire membership.

“Many local residents have been coming to The Cheshire over the years and have fond memories of its vast sports facilities and traditional social areas. The open day is a chance to refresh their views, see what we have to offer now; one of the most comprehensive sporting and fitness facilities in Cheshire, meet the team and explore the opportunities to get fit and healthy here.”

Classes in the studios include spin cycling, body pump, balance and combat with Les Mills, circuits, hoola hoop, metafit, boxercise, boogie bounce, yoga and zumba, and the studio is also available for private hire.
