A MAN has admitted to raping a 14-year-old boy he met on the dating application Grindr.

Appearing at Burnley Crown Court over video link from Preston Prison, 33-year-old Adnan Aslam denied paying for the sexual services of a child.

The court heard the defendant was groomed the boy on the dating app before meeting him and raping him in a vehicle on November 9.

Aslam, of Arthur Street, Nelson, pleaded guilty to the rape on the basis there may have been initial consent but during the course of the sexual activity, the victim told him to stop but he continued.

Prosecuting, Francis McEntee said the pleas were acceptable to the prosecution.

Defending, Ahmed Nadim said: “Clearly this is a serious matter. The defendant anticipates a substantial custodial sentence. Nevertheless we anticipate the court will be assisted by a pre-sentence report.”

Judge Sara Dodd adjourned sentencing until February 7 for the preparation of a pre-sentence report. As part of that report the probation service will assess Aslam’s dangerousness.

He was remanded in custody until the next hearing.
