EMERGENCY services were called to a busy Blackburn road this afternoon after a woman crashed her car.
The police, paramedics and fire service were called to Redlam road in the town following reports that a car had flipped on its side.
An 81-year-old woman was freed from the car by firefighters and taken to hospital.
Police closed the road as she was dealt with and a clean-up took place.
A spokesman for Blackburn fire said: “We were called to assist with an accident involving an 81-year-old woman who had crashed into a lamppost resulting in her car flipping on its side.
“We sent two appliances and assisted with getting the woman out of the vehicle.
“She was checked over by paramedics but didn’t appear to be seriously injured.”
