AN engineering giant in Darwen has been commended again for its commitment to apprentices.
Darwen-based WEC received plaudits at the National Apprentice Awards, now in their 16th year.
Not only was the East Lancs outfit highly commended in the British Army Award for large employer of the year at the event but it has garnered success elsewhere.
Tyler Atkinson, a talented young welder, was picked to represent the UK at the WorldSkills in Kazan for his metalwork skills.
Kris Mercer, training manager, said: "We are delighted that our dedication to our apprenticeship programme has once again been recognised. We are passionate about our apprentices."
