A MAN was found unresponsive in the street with serious head injuries. 

Emergency services were called to the junction of Grange Street and Queensberry Road in Burnley shortly before 9.45 on Friday, after being called by a member of the public. 

They cordoned off the area as a precaution and the man, believed to be in his thirties, was seen to by paramedics.

He was then taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Detectives are now trying to establish how the man came to be injured, appealing to the public for their help.

DI Nicola Bithell of Burnley CID, said: “The man is very poorly in hospital and we need to understand how he sustained his injuries.

“The man has been found at a busy time of day and we know there were a number of people in the area.

“We need anyone with information to come forward as soon as possible.

“If you live nearby and have any CCTV covering either of these streets, please get in touch.”
