THESE people had a spring in their step whilst taking centre stage for performances during the 1980s and 1990s.

We have delved through our archives and found some great images of modern dance groups.

One of the shots shows students of Accrington and Rossendale College who put on a performance of ‘Mirror Mirror on the Wall’ which was choreographed by dangers Sally Sykes and Rosemary Lee in April 1988.

Another shot shows Karen Lawrence who was winner of the Manhattan Heights Dance competition back in September 1993.

There were all smiles for the Padiham Co-op Starlight Disco Dancers featuring Lesley Jaques, Lyndsay Bleasdale and Gillian Bleasdale who entertained late-night shoppers at the Leo Superstone, Burnley in 1990.

Also it would not have been the 90s without a photograph of young people sporting some tracksuits and here, the Zero Gravity breakdance team who took part in the Shadsworth Centre breakdancing competition.

From left include Gabriel Sogbetun, David Duxbury, Robin Knowles, Martin Egan, Michael Sogbetun and Gary Aspden and they were based at Darwen Youth Club in August 1985.
