A LOVING wife has paid tribute to her husband after he was tragically killed in an early morning car crash.

Darwen man Kelvin Baker died on Sunday morning after a car he was travelling in crashed on Blackburn Road in Egerton.

Emergency services attended and four men were taken to hospital with serious injuries, but despite paramedics' best efforts, 35-year-old Mr Baker, a personal trainer, was pronounced dead a short while later.

Now Mr Baker’s wife, Simone, has paid tribute to her ‘angel’ and ‘amazing father’ to the couple’s four-year-old son, Kelvin Junior.

In a touching tribute written for her husband, she said: “I can’t begin to explain the hurt and emptiness that I feel.

“I just don’t know how I’m going to do this without you, but I know I have to for our boy Kelvin Jnr.

“I always knew you would be an amazing daddy but I never dreamt you would exceed those expectations like you have.

“The bond between you and our boy is unbreakable, his face lit up every time you walked into the room and you were forever laughing and playing dinosaurs, he never wanted mummy to play when daddy was around.

“You’re his best friend, like two peas in a pod and he loves you more than anything in the world.

“You have given me the most special gift and I promise I will spend the rest of my life making you proud.”

“You were the most caring, gentle and loving man I have ever met, who absolutely devoted yourself to me and our son.

“You were one of the lads and are loved by so many friends and family and admired by so many others.

“ Not many people got the privilege of knowing the full you, but I will be eternally grateful that I got to, I got to call you my husband and I am so proud to be your wife.

“I have lost my soul mate, my best friend, my other half.”

Mr Baker had been travelling in a car with three other men when the accident occurred.

All three remain in hospital with serious injuries.
