HOUSEHOLDS in a rural borough will see changes to their bin collection routine over Christmas and the New Year,

Ribble Valley Council has advised residents of their revised recycling and refuse collection schedule over the festive period.

Households with collections scheduled for Monday, December 23 will be visited on Saturday December 21 instead; those for Tuesday December 24 on Monday December 23; and those for Wednesday December 25 on Tuesday December 24.

Collections schedule for Thursday December 26 will take place on Friday December 27; those for Friday December 27 on Saturday December 28; those for Wednesday, January 1 on Thursday January 2; those for Thursday January 2 on Friday January 3; and those for Friday January 3 on Saturday January 4.

There will be no change to collections on December 30 and 31.

A Ribble Valley Council spokesman said: "Waste paper and cardboard will be collected on the rearranged refuse collection dates, so don’t forget to recycle your Christmas wrap, cards and packaging.

"Christmas trees should be chopped up and placed inside green bins, or if you are not on the green wheeled bin service tied up and left with burgundy bins or lilac sacks on green waste collection week.

"They can also be taken to the household waste recycling centres at Henthorn, Clitheroe, or Chapel Hill, Longridge."
