THE 17-year-old victim of yesterday’s fatal collision in Bingley has been named by her school.

Beckfoot School said that Ishah Iman Riaz, a year 12 student, was involved in the road traffic incident on Bradford Road.

The accident happened near the school at about 4pm.

The school’s statement said: “We subsequently learned that Ishah passed away in hospital.

“Ishah was a wonderful young lady who joined our school community in September to study for her A-levels.

“She made such an impression on all who knew her and we are heartbroken by this news.

“Our deepest sympathies and thoughts are with her family and friends at this terribly sad time.

“Our school community will absorb this news during the day and we will support each other as we think about Ishah and her family.”

The incident is the second fatal road accident involving a student at Beckfoot in two weeks.

A Year 9 student Raees Farid died in a road traffic collision with his dad while they were on holiday in Turkey.

Ishah, who lived Haslingdon Drive, Bradford, had joined Beckfoot sixth form in September from Belle Vue Girls' Academy.

A spokesman for Belle Vue said: "Ishah Riaz was a student at Belle Vue Girls’ Academy from year 7 to year 11 and left us to join Beckfoot Sixth Form only this September.

"Ishah was a model student, involving herself in all aspects of school life. She was a very gifted young woman with so many talents, and so much to give.

"She was a brilliant musician who enjoyed playing the piano, performing with so many other students and building great friendships. She always took any opportunity to develop herself and really enjoyed being part of the Duke of Edinburgh scheme.

"We were devastated to hear the tragic news that Ishah passed away following the road traffic accident yesterday. It has rocked our school community but staff and students have rallied and supported each other throughout the day.

"Our thoughts are with her friends, old and new, and her family at this very difficult time."

The Janaza Announcement Facebook page said that a time and date for her funeral had yet to be set.
