FIREFIGHTERS were called to rescue a sheep from a river in Burnley this afternoon.
The animal had become stranded in water near homes in Park Lane and had to be saved.
Crews from both Burnley and Darwen were called to the area at around 12.45pm and they used inflatable boats to reach the startled animal.
Two other firefighters went downstream with lines to stop the sheep from floating away.
Fortunately, after 90 minutes of work, the firefighters were able to safely rescue the animal.
