ACTOR Andy Whyment, from Walkden, is the favourite to be named as king of the jungle in the final of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!

Dozens of people across the country are rooting for the 38-year-old Coronation Street star to win the series.

The penultimate episode of the reality TV show aired last night, with Ant and Dec revealing that Kate Garraway had been eliminated.

It means that Andy Whyment, soap star Jacqueline Jossa and Capital Radio DJ Roman Kemp are the three contestants who will star in the final tonight.

All the bookies are pointing towards an Andy Whyment victory.

Coronation Street actress Samia Longchambon has given Andy her backing. She tweeted:

Fans have taken to social media to praise the actor, who is known for playing Kirk Sutherland on Coronation Street.

Viewers dubbed dad-of-two Andy as "the terminator", as well as naming him a "superhero", and describing his performance as "stupendous".

Last night the show's most iconic trial returned, with the competitors battling the infamous Celebrity Cyclone.

Dressed in superhero gear, the four celebrities had to face the elements as they fought their way up a slippery course in a bid to carry four stars to the finish line.

Andy was captured marching fearlessly through relentless rain and howling winds to complete the task.

One fan tweeted afterwards: "Think watching Andy Whyment do the cyclone and live his dream has to be up there with the greatest moments in UK TV history... surely? What a bloke."

I'm a Celebrity airs nightly at 9pm on ITV, followed by I'm a Celebrity: Extra Camp on ITV2.
