A VETERAN of the East Lancs finance world has retired with 47 years service.

Peter Oddie joined Blackburn-based PM+M shortly after completing his A Levels.

For a number of years his skills were put to good use in the audit and accountancy sections there.

But in 1999 the firm created an agriculture department, which he has headed for the past two decades.

He will be handing over the reins to his colleague Delyth Oxford, who he has worked with for 14 years.

Peter thanked staff there and said it had "been an honour" to be part of the company's history.

Jane Parry, the company's managing partner, added: "We are grateful for the part he has played in the growth and development of the firm and wish Peter a very enjoyable retirement."
