A MOTORWAY lane has been shut for about four hours due to flooding on the M62 near Simister Island.
Drivers have been urged to take care on the westbound carriageway between Junction 18 for Bury/M66 and Junction 19 for Heywood.
Highways England maintenance teams are currently at the site trying to fix the problem. One lane has been shut since 4am today due to flooding.
North West Motorway Police tweeted: "Between J19 Heywood and J18 SimisterIsland M62 westbound Traffic Officers have a lane 1 closure in place due to flooding. Please take care on approach."
Highways England North West tweeted: "This lane closure is still in place while our maintenance teams continue to work to clear the flood."
