CARNFORTH Ladies NFU enjoyed their Christmas Meal at the County Hotel, Carnforth on Tuesday, December 3.

Raffle winners were B. Garnett and H. Armer. The next meeting is Tuesday, January 7, for a fun-filled evening of dominoes, with prizes for the winners and losers.

CHRISTMAS lights were formally switched on by Mayor Kath Bromilow MBE at 6.30pm on Wednesday, December 4. Sponsored by the Carnforth Business Network, the War Memorial Gardens were decorated in an array of Christmas lights.

A large crowd of local residents filled the town. Santa arrived in a sleigh provided by Carnforth Rotary and then invited children to come see him in his grotto.

The procession was led by the Jaybee marching band, who played a selection of upbeat Christmas tunes. A variety of stalls were present, selling sweets, candy floss and other seasonal food and balloons. Carnforth Rotary hosted a chocabola stall and children enjoyed rides on a carousel.

LYRICS and Laughter Christmas Carol and Christmas song session will take place from1.30pm on Thursday, December 12 at Carnforth Free Methodist Church at Hunter Street. This event is free of charge and is for people living with dementia, their carer or family members.

Tea, cake and a fun time will be provided with a warm welcome given to all. Christmas jumpers are optional! For details, contact Marilyn on 07547-957371.

THE next Carnforth film night will be on Saturday, December 14 at Carnforth Civic Hall. Tickets, inclusive of dinner provided by local caterer On a Roll, are priced at £8 for the film Sometimes, Always, Never and can be booked in advance from Bob Bailey, the town clerk.
