Two musical groups from East Lancashire have recorded a special charity Christmas single and video.

Blackburn-based rock band, Novustory, and the official Padiham Community Choir recorded the song, titled, Very Good This Year (Ho Ho Ho), which will be released on Friday December 13, with all proceeds from sales going to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.

The song was penned by Burnley-based Mel Moon, of Small Boy Productions, after she was contacted by the mother of a young girl who had life-saving surgery at the Liverpool-based children’s hospital.

Imogen Storey who fronts the band, Novustory, and also co-runs Esche Haus Audio recording studio in Blackburn, said: “Not so long ago, Mel was contacted by a lady called Emily Cattle who lives on the Isle of Man.

“Four years ago, Emily’s four-week-old daughter Catherine, underwent a full heart repair surgery after her 20-week scan revealed there was a problem with her heart.

“This was soon diagnosed as Tetrology of Fallot, which only affects four in 10,000 babies.

“The operation had never been done before on a child younger than eight months but it was deemed to be so urgent that it was performed at Alder Hey and the surgeons there saved Catherine’s life.”

The charity single was recorded and produced by Novustory drummer and Esche Haus Audio co-owner, James Duckworth, at the Blackburn studio, with him and guitarist Chris Horrocks arranging the track’s drums, bass and guitar, with James Cockerill on vocals.

The two bandmates also star in the music video, which was filmed by Ms Storey in September, at Catherine’s nursery on the Isle of Man.

And the Padiham Choir, who feature on the track at the end of the song, attended Esche Haus Audio as a full 40-piece ensemble to record their parts with Mr Duckworth.

Ms Storey added: “We’re honoured to have taken part in such a special project.

“All proceeds raised go to Alder Hey Children’s Charity and knowing that something we’ve worked on could bring happiness to so many people, and maybe even save lives, it feels like we’re really working together with the community to help make a difference to the lives of others”

The video can be viewed on the Small Boy Productions Facebook page @smallboyproductions and will be available for download from iTunes and Amazon music next Friday.
