A FAMILY-RUN business in Ellesmere Port has handed over more than £1,000 to worthy causes in the area.

Supported by the Wirral Freemasons, Market Carpets donated cash to Dorin Park special school’s PTA in Chester, the Milestone Mums support group, Wirral Society of the Blind and TLC.

Claire McKelvey, from Dorin Park PTA, said: "It was wonderful to be nominated by so many members of the general public and receive a cheque for £280 from Market Carpets and £100 cheque from the FreeMasons.

“The PTA was overwhelmed by the generosity of the local business and the monies donated will be put towards our current project of funding a new carpark for our pupils".

With the help and support of customers from Ellesmere Port and the surrounding area over the years, Market Carpets has raised more than £6,000 for different charities.

A spokesman said: “A big, big thank you to everyone who has supported our local shop.”

The family-run company has been in the Port for over 20 years and in the market hall for more than a decade. It supplies carpets, laminates, vinyls and quality rugs.
