DETAILED plans have been lodged for four new business units at Frontier Park.

Monte Blackburn Ltd bosses have submitted a planning application to Hyndburn Council for the units to be built next to the Old Mother Redcap pub off Blackburn Road, near the Hyndburn-Blackburn border.

Because the start-up units are considered a departure from what was permitted within the outline permission, it has been necessary to apply for full planning permission.

A spokesman said: “This proposal has been brought forward by the client due to the site currently being vacant underutilised, cleared and ready for development.

“Furthermore, there is also a high demand for start-up units of this size at this location which has been established through discussions with potential occupiers.

“Significant investment has already been made and more is planned which will secure the future of the business park as a main employment location within Hyndburn but will also establish desirable uses within the site which will attract and maintain occupiers, providing new jobs and bring significant investment to the area.”

The site, formerly known as Whitebirk, has been a strategic site for the North West for more than 15 years.

The development is co-owned by Zuber and Moshin Issa, the founding partners of Euro Garages.

The brothers appointed Barnfield Construction Ltd to undertake the construction initial works.

The Issa brothers bought the site in 2017.

A new petrol and service station with shop, a drive-through restaurant and a coffee shop on the site are already open and work continues on the new Hilton hotel, which will form the centrepiece of the £100million complex.
