BLACKBURN Cathedral will host a performance of 'The Messiah' next month.
It will use instruments dating from the time when the 18th Century composer George Frideric Handel created the famous oratorio.
This year’s performance, entitled 'Messiah en Baroque', will be the 86th to be presented by Blackburn Music Society
It will take place on Saturday December 7 from 7pm until 10pm.
Blackburn Music Society chair Gill Broome writes “For many people of faith – and of no faith at all - the Christmas season is simply incomplete without Handel’s Messiah.
"His masterwork remains as popular as ever in its 278 year history with hundreds of performances throughout the world every year. Ours has become a fixture in the life of Blackburn and a proud re-assertion of a great northern tradition."
Tickets are £14 in advance, £16 on the door. Under 19s are free.
