WINNER of the Primary School Pupil of the Year is a real credit to his family and school.

Alfie-James Richardson who attends St Thomas of Canterbury RC School in Heaton is described as being “very well-behaved” and “always strives in everything he does”.

So proud are his parents of him, they actually put him forward for the award.

They wrote: “He always works extremely hard with all his school work and homework, and always put 110 per cent into everything..”

This is the second award he has won.

For Alfie won Child of the Year at his school.

His parent wrote: “I want to make him know how very proud I am.

“Being nominated to win Primary School Pupil of the Year would be a huge confidence boost for secondary school.”

And for his admirable qualities, not only did Alfie win an award but he has been invited to make his very own pastie at Ye Olde Pastie Shoppe, which sponsored the award.

Alfie said: “I was blown away when I was told when I won, I couldn’t believe it at first.

“I won Child of the Year in Year Two for being an excellent role model.

“I want to do well in school and when I leave school I want to be a pilot.”

A special pastie awaits Alfie when he visits Ye Olde Pastie Shoppe, which sponsored the award.
