THE future is bright if young people are like the winner of our Secondary School Pupil of the Year.

Kearsley Academy’s Jack Schofield was nominated by fellow pupils for going and beyond — helping at school events, gives 110 per cent in lesson, and helps others in class if they are struggling.

His peers say that “he is always there to lend a hand to anyone that needs it”.

Jack, aged 15, said: “It is an honour to be Secondary School Pupil of the Year.

“To be a student means to be be committed to learning and bettering oneself. These qualities are at the heart of who I am.

“It’s an hour to be recognised as an individual who wants the best for his peers and for the difference I make.”

He thanked the whole school body, teachers, staff and pupils, who make it a pleasure to go above and beyond at Kearsley Academy.

Principal Kim McKee said: “It is a delight to see one of our students not only nominated for, but awarded, this accolade that highlights Jack’s consistent hard work and mature approach to his studies throughout his time at Kearsley Academy. Jack is a role model to our students and we are proud that this has been recognised not just by our staff but by Jack’s peers as well. This is thoroughly deserved!”

Jack’s ambitions includes going to university before becoming a teacher of English to inspire the next generation of youngsters.
