A WOMAN is angry after waiting for more than a week for what appears to be the remains of a cannabis farm to be cleared from a track near a main road.

Jessica Roebuck said the 40 bin bags which have been dumped on land off Bolton Road, Darwen, on November 14.

Despite calls to the police and Blackburn with Darwen Council, the 36-year-old is still waiting for action to be taken.

She said: “We noticed there were lots of bin bags there and we looked at it and it looks as if it is from a massive cannabis growing farm.

“I opened up the bags and there were old trees and lots of compost in the bags.

“I contacted the police and they told me that the council would have to clear it.

“Then I asked the council to come to clear it.

“If it was just garden waste then we could just load it up and take it away but I am worried we would get blamed for having a cannabis farm or something.

“I am worried about the bags being ripped open and all of the rubbish blowing over the moors.

“Also what about the wildlife that are near there trying to eat the rubbish.”

A Blackburn with Darwen Council spokesman said: “We are aware of this issue and are waiting on more information about the specific location of the fly-tipping from the complainant. Once that has been received we will be happy to investigate.”
