A MAN who drove away from a row with his partner ended up being breathalysed after police saw him driving at 20mph on a dual carriageway.
Blackburn magistrates heard Wayne Dyson then did a U-turn causing another motorist to brake sharply to avoid a collision.
Dyson, 52, of Fallbarn Crescent, Rawtenstall, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. He was fined £120 with £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge and banned from driving for 18 months.
Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said police saw Dyson on his mobile phone and when they stopped him he said he was using the sat nav.
Helen Farnsworth, defending, said Dyson had been at home and had a few drinks with his partner. She became abusive and went outside to get away from her.
"She followed him out and he then drove off to get away," said Mrs Farnsworth.
