A DRIVER ran red lights and reached speeds of 60 mph telling police his "friend was late for a train".
Traffic officers managed to pull over a BMW 316 after he initially failed to stop after seeing him run red lights and overtaking and undertaking cars at speeds of up to 60mph on Blackburn Road.
He failed both a roadside breath and drug test.
Posting on Twitter, traffic officers wrote: "When he finally stopped he gave the excuse that his friend was late for her train."
