A kind-hearted couple have celebrated a marriage milestone by giving their anniversary gifts to charity.

Derek and Lynda Corris from Clayton-Le-Moors tied the knot 50 years ago, and to commemorate their golden wedding anniversary, instead of presents, they asked family and friends to make a donation to East Lancashire Hospice.

And the golden oldies managed to raise a fantastic £500 for the Hospice when they held their anniversary party at The Peel Park Hotel in Accrington.

Mrs Corris said: "We wanted to do something for our local hospice because hospices are so important and they need all the help they can get.

"We’d like to thank all our family and friends who donated so generously."

Fundraising and Marketing Assistant at East Lancashire Hospice, Lucinda Bury, said: “We would like to congratulate Mr and Mrs Corris on their golden wedding anniversary and thank both them and their guests for their generosity.”
