It's beginning to look a lot like winter as gritting is to take place across parts of East Lancashire this evening.
As the road surface temperatures look set to drop below freezing, Lancashire County Council and Blackburn with Darwen Council's gritting teams will be out in force, trying to make priority roads across the region safer for drivers.
The next 24 hours will see a minimum temperature of minus 1.1C with the sub-zero period being from 1am on Wednesday until 7am on Wednesday.
Gritting started at 6pm and drivers are advised to be aware of frost and ice on the roads.
