HUNDREDS of people gathered outside Blackburn town hall to pay respects to armed services who had served in war.
It was an emotional occasion as members of the public joined servicemen and women earlier today.
The last post was played followed by a minutes silence and firework was set-off from the town hall building during the event.
Cllr Jim Shorrock, mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, said: "I think from the 100 year old commemorations last year that it has cemented the focus of people's minds about the conflicts.
"It was great to see such a big turnout in Blackburn with Darwen at events and services over the course of the weekend.
"We need to raise awareness for future generations with services such as VE Day and D-Day and we feel it is really important to pay our respects."
