TWO singletons from East Lancashire appeared in a new Channel 4 show which attempts to put old school romance back into modern dating.

Dance Diversity star Ashley Banjo is fronting the new show called Flirty Dancing, and will attempt to play cupid and match couples and choreograph dance dates to allow them to get to know each other.

In the first episode, which aired on Friday, viewers met 23-year-old Kerry, from Darwen, who has given up finding love in her town.

Kerry, is a country music fan and a toy shop assistant.

Aiming for a musical boyfriend, Kerry is matched with 26-year-old Jordan, a musician and cheerleading coach, who has also not been lucky with love.

Ashley creates a dance that shows off both their personalities – complete with signature moves.

The 31-year-old, who first hit our screens with Diversity on Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, said: “I think because the whole thing is a crazy shared experience that gives you common ground.

“When you’ve got something in common with someone, especially something as special as never meeting and learning a dance and the first time you meet, you’re asked to catch and throw somebody on the day, it’s the ultimate ice breaker.

“And while it’s an ice breaker it’s also a bond former. We’re really putting to the test whether these people will get along because the dance creates that common ground.”
