CHILDREN from St Leonards Primary School were hitting the right notes as they await their debut before TV cameras.
In November 1979, the Langho school had been invited by the BBC to represent Lancashire primary schools in the programme ‘A Grand Sing’ which will be presented by Brian Trueman.
However, the school’s headmaster Eric Scott was remaining tight-lipped about the songs the choir would be singing during the recording.
Mr Scott said: “We are keeping the songs a secret because the element of surprise will increase the effectiveness of the performance.”
He added that the choir was normally 52-strong with a complement of 20 recorder players but because of the size of the studios in Manchester they were looking to reduce the numbers.
The choir, comprising children from the junior classes, aged between seven and 11.
