46 properties are without power after a main electricity cable was discovered producing smoke through a manhole cover.

Firefighters rushed to the scene on Queen Street in Clitheroe after a member of the public discovered the smoke, which was quickly isolated by Electricity North West (ENW).

Homes in the Low Moor area are now without electricity as ENW repair the damaged cable.

A Lancashire Fire and Service spokesman said: "The electricity has been isolated until it has been repaired.

"It was the main electricity cable, so a couple of streets will be without power while ENW work on fixing it."

The estimated time of power restoration is approximately 9.30pm.
